Creators of the Wiggle Wednesday Potluck event!

I didn’t exactly know what I was doing as an art journalist for my first event. In fact, the title "art journalist" literally came to me minutes before I arrived. But with this newfound identity and an open heart, I walked into the unknown with zero expectations—only the one truth I always carry: being authentically myself.

How I Ended Up Here

I first met Amanda, the creator of this potluck, at a women’s circle. You know how those go—exchange socials, maybe like a post or two, and then forget about it. But with Amanda, it was different. We clicked instantly, and as I made myself more present in her world, I discovered she was a project manager—a field I had been eager to step into. Through this growing connection, I got to meet Dylan and Lauren, the co-creators of the event, at another gathering called Wiggle Wednesday. Their energy? Just as warm and welcoming as Amanda’s. Another instant click.

Fast forward to the day of the event. I pulled up armed with a bowl of chickpea salad and a shaky hand clutching my most precious ticket to freedom of expression—my vlog camera. Oh, and I arrived early (oops). Nerves? Sky-high. But my early arrival was met with warmth from Dylan and his roommates, who welcomed me with great conversation. My habit of wandering kicked in before the party even started, which led me to meet one of the true VIPs of the night—Paws, the house cat. She came in clutch with cuddles and soft little paw taps, perfect for calming my jitters.

The Party Begins!

Honestly, it felt like I blinked, and suddenly, the party was in full swing. Now I see why it was from 4 PM to 10 PM—time truly flies when you’re having a good time. I was so caught up in the present moment that hours slipped by. I even forgot to eat—at a potluck. Imagine that.

But the true highlight? The people.I haven’t laughed so hard that tears fell from my eyes in a long time. I haven’t clicked with people so effortlessly in a long time. It felt less like a first-time meeting and more like a reunion.

Now, if you’re thinking, "Mingling? Not for me," don’t worry—this space was built for all types of vibes:🌿 Introvert corner? Yep. A cozy little retreat with pillows and blankets for when you needed a break.🎨 Creative space? Of course. Art supplies were laid out for anyone wanting to create and connect over shared strokes of inspiration.🎮 Gamers? They had video games and card games, too. Whatever your energy level, you had a place to just be.

A Night to Remember

Sadly, this was the last time they were hosting this event (crossing my fingers for future ones!). But hey, maybe this post inspires you to create a space like this—where people can walk in and think, "Wow, this truly made my day." Maybe you’ll be the one to throw an event so good that someone like me just has to write and record about it.

So, to Dylan, Lauren, and Amanda—thank you. You created a space that was more than just an event. It was a place to exist freely, to connect, to laugh, and to be. I can’t wait for many more!
