A Hidden Gem Near Atlanta for Peaceful Hikes and Waterfall Views (Review)
Vickery Creek Falls: https://g.co/kgs/zv31qAL
Some places seem to find you just as much as you find them. Vickery Creek Falls is one of those places. If you've ever gone down the endless rabbit hole of searching for quiet, scenic trails, you know the struggle—either the ratings seem questionable, or the trail is disappointingly short but requires an hours-long drive (thanks, Atlanta traffic).
Since my family and I recently moved to the area, I was on the hunt for a nearby trail that wouldn’t feel like a trek just to get to. Funny enough, I don’t remember seeing this trail pop up in my search results until one day—it was like the trail was finally ready to invite me in. That’s how I stumbled upon the Oxbo Trail, a part of the Vickery Creek trail system, and let me tell you—this trail made my day.
The moment I stepped onto the path and saw the water stream, it felt like everything was being washed away with the current. The sunlight peeking through the trees felt like it was smiling right back at me, and from that moment, I was sold. A trail by the water? You can’t beat that, especially when it’s this beautiful and so close to the city. It’s truly a hidden gem worth saving for future adventures.
Originally, I planned for a quick hour-long walk, thinking it’d just be a nice way to get outside. But an hour turned into half the day—lost in the sounds of rushing water and the ever-changing scenery. Something about this place kept calling me forward, step after step. It even inspired me to record a YouTube video, which I’ll link here. https://youtu.be/6y_cnqPRVzY?si=0AgXCV6y7bYTLwTK
A Different Path: Discovering Another Entrance
A few days later, I felt the pull to return—this time, I parked at another entrance, VC 15, which I found on the park’s trail map. If you're looking for a peaceful spot to sit and just exist, I highly recommend this part of the park. It has the perfect balance—quiet enough to feel immersed in nature, yet with the occasional passerby so you don’t feel completely alone. Plus, the sunlight hits just right, and the breeze from the water? Chef’s kiss.
One thing to note—this trail is big. No matter where you start, you won’t truly get lost because there are park trail maps throughout. They can be a little confusing at first, but here’s a tip: read them from the perspective you came from, not as a bird’s-eye view.

The Solitude of the Forest
There are parts of the trail where you’ll find yourself deep in the woods, with barely anyone around. It’s peaceful, but also a little eerie if you’re like me and your brain starts spiraling: Wow, I’m so small in this world… What was that noise? Was that my footstep or someone else’s? Cue the overthinking.
If that sounds familiar, my best advice? Breathe. And if you’re not a fan of solo hikes, bring a friend—or even better, a furry companion since the trail is dog-friendly!
But here’s the thing—by the time you reach the end of the trail, you won’t feel like the same person who started it. There’s something about being surrounded by nature, listening to the water, and just being that changes you.

Final Thoughts
I’d rate this trail a 10/10, especially on weekdays if you’re craving some alone time. Whether you’re looking for a scenic hike, a place to clear your mind, or just a quiet escape from the city, Vickery Creek Falls won’t disappoint. Trust me—this is one of those trails you’ll keep coming back to.
